That's a wrap at @rosemaryfarm with @natgeo #behindtheshot ! A huge thanks to the amazing @rosemaryfarm sanctuary equine rescue, Dawn, Robert, Nemo and gang for their incredible hospitality, and to the awesome film crew for such a successful shoot. It really feeds my soul to spend time with these special creatures (like Piper and her boyfriend River pictured here) and I also have no complaints about taking a nice little trip (almost) home during some unseasonably warm east coast weather. On that note, next stop Miami! Then Alaska, of course :)Rosemary Farm Sanctuary
A woman rides her motorcycle across the Niger River in Bamako, Mali. Mali, a country of 14 million people in West Africa long known for its ancient Islamic history and vibrant modern culture, was threatened with destruction when jihadist militants took over northern cities in 2012. With the imposition of their own despotic version of Islamic law, women were severely punished, forced to wear hijabs and burkas and banished from school and work. After an international coalition pushed out the jihadists in 2013, a fragile peace ensued and sporadic terrorist attacks continue to this day. I travelled across Mali for one month in 2013 to meet Malian women and share their stories of resistance and resilience. The project, “A Quiet Defiance,” is currently on exhibit at the Anne Reid Art Gallery in Princeton, New Jersey with support from the @internationalreportingproject.
Northern lights in Healy, Alaska. Gearing up for winter projects by going through the archive with @lightroom. This month marks the culmination of the #adobepartner #makeitimpactful project, a creative collaboration with 9 other artists and designers that challenged us to make an impact with our work, and with each other, using @adobecreativecloud. Excited that “Leaders of the Pack" (link in bio) was selected for the National Geographic Short Film Showcase! The film, directed by Erin Sanger @esanger , follows me as I photograph dog musher Kristin Knight Pace before her first Iditarod in 2016. Kristen, her husband Andy, and their daughter Ada run @heymoosekennel , a long distance racing kennel in Healy, Alaska.
80 Degrees North. A piece of glacial ice in Svalbard, Norway, shrinking by the day due to climate change. #ad By documenting these changing landscapes, I hope we can impact the public’s consciousness, understanding and love for our beautiful and fragile planet. Shot while sailing the high seas with @seilnorge on assignment for @parismatch and edited in @lightroom. #makeitimpactful @adobecreativecloud
