@joeyburgered got his wish and the PBJB has made it into Flashback month. Ahhh, and isn’t it a beauty ️
Such an awesome cheeseburger. I doubled the beef and asked for the double cheese on the single to be split between the two patties. Doubling the beef brought the focus of the burger onto the beautifully pink patties, with a really nice char. 
This set the balance right for me. It never became too ‘beefy’ which can occur sometimes. I didn’t want an overly sweet burger or one where the peanut butter stands out to far. They were perfect in this mix. Beef mixed with salty bacon, with really nice sweet jelly and peanut butter adding interesting flavour and depth with the maple aioli as the cherry on top. 
The bacon was outstanding. Ridiculously crispy. 
Super cheeseburger.

This always looked like a special that would work well and if didn’t disappoint. Beautiful contrast of textures, creamy, salty, and a little bit of heat thrown in.
The hook is the Cheetos covered mac n cheese. Other than the promo shot, I’ve only seen @whipsy77 croquet look red. There was nothing red with the croquet on this burger. It looked like any other mac n cheese/deep fried cheese patty. I’m not sure if those Cheetos are hot, but I couldn’t taste any heat from the coating. 
The mac n cheese patty tasted great. The jalapeños and chorizo took it to the next level. Definitely one of the best I’ve had.
The burger was cooked well. Nice tasty medium cooked patty, though the cheese barely melted.

Week three in Flashback month sees a return from 2015. This has a whole lot of ingredients I like, but it didn’t quite work for me.
The slider was a lot of fun. I thought I could jam it in two bites. It was a bit bigger than it seemed! A good reproduction of the classic cheese. Beef was cooked really well, medium, nicely charred. @joeyburgered is right, the ratio of bun to meat is out on sliders. It doesn’t look any different to a regular cheeseburger, but he’s right.
The main burger had s lot going on. It was like two burgers in one. The top section tasted like a whopper. No complaints from me, I do enjoy a good whopper. The onion rings tasted great in the mix.
I don’t think the bottom section containing the hotdog combined well with the top. Very strong in flavour, it needed something else more than the tomato sauce.. I loved the Frankenweiner special with the hotdog, but this seemed a little dry without that liquid cheese. The beef patty itself was slightly over cooked, but it really had trouble competing with the hotdog, so it didn’t really matter all things considered.

After a week of chicken burgers it was time to hit the beef. I wanted to try out the mash and gravy and fries from the current special with DNO’s beef patties.
For the most part it worked. There was a flavour that would emerge every so often that was off putting, which I think I was chicken salt from the fries. I tried isolating it, there was enough mess to try everything individually. 
Certainly can’t fault how this was prepared. The combination of quality beef, copious amounts of cheese and bacon is the holy trinity. Beef was pink and juicy, bacon crisp.
Personally I’d like a sweet element, like a bbq sauce, and some spice. A spicy bbq sauce sounds good, and some jalapeños.
Certainly a monster burger. Love the onion rings at dno, and they helped break through the richness of the other ingredients.

The week of chicken burger specials continues, this time at Happy Ending. The weekly specials are always something to look out for, and always something that raises some eye brows and garners discussion. 
This week he’s created an Asian inspired fried chicken burger. I wasn’t sure I was going to review it, but I didn’t was certainly going to try it. 
First time trying Gee’s chicken and it’s right up there as one of my favourites. I’d certainly heard plenty of good things about it.
The chicken is on the spicy side of the ledger. It’s not hot, that’s not what I mean, it’s got a lot of complex spice included flavours wrapped around the chicken thigh. Crunchy without being brittle, moist chicken contained within.
I’d forgot there was burnt tomato jam while I was eating it, so intent on the rendang mayo and what it was doing. They worked so well together, in such harmony, I thought the rendang mayo was sweet 
The sauce combination is complex, yet subtle. It doesn’t whack you around the head, but like most of Gee’s sauce combination, quite rich. There is an element of investment required though. I think maybe this is why I like these specials from Gee. The deeper I delve, the more I get out of the burger.
The carrot and cucumber worked in this burger like they do in an Asian roll. Freshness and acidity to cut through the richer flavours.
Definitely one of my favourite chicken burgers.

Second up in the classics series is The Combo Burger. A KFC style burger with the chips, potato and gravy, and coleslaw thrown into the burger. 
The chips aren’t as soggy as kfc chips, and the chicken was a lot crispier. I love mashed potato in burgers and I love dipping chips into mash and gravy. It’s actually my favourite thing about kfc 
Needless to say I was going to like this a lot 
You must add bacon. For some it’s never a thought not to, but in this combo it’s made for it. 
In hindsight I’d add jalapeños and a deep fried cheese patty as well.

Is this a burger 
I’m not sure how to score this on a burger scale. So I’ll score it the same as the last schnitzel burger I had as neither was better than the other.
I did ask around the work crew (mostly non burgerologists) what they thought when I told them, and they were quite excited. 
With that in mind, it’s certainly tasty for what it is. I can’t say I’ve had many schnitzel burgers, and those I have, for the most part, have been appalling. 
I can’t see how this could be prepared better. Chicken was moist, the rivulets of clear juices running out of the chicken after each bite was impressive. 
The chicken felt light. Much more delicate in flavour than the usual SFC. It didn’t feel over oily either, even with fries.
BL maple bacon is one of the great joys of life. It’s like sweet meat candy. The combo with maple aioli, fries and gravy is well know to most. I never felt like I was chomping on a blame canada, or even a blame chicanada for that matter. It didn’t taste anywhere near as sweet as I find those two. Sure there was sweetness, but it complemented the flavours without stepping into the limelight.
The liquid cheese worked well. Gooey cheese on chicken burgers are few and far between in Sydney. 
The lettuce wasn’t just for show. It did help freshen things up further. 
I enjoyed eating this a lot more than the Trump Tower. It’s a nice fresh chicken burger for summer. 
And make sure you have plenty of napkins, it’s a messy one

Went for my third visit to Happy Ending to try out the current special. Really happy to visit when it’s not been 30+ degrees 
This is definitely my favourite of the three burgers I’ve tried. The bacon bits are ridiculous, and the jalapeño & pineapple relish is more ridiculous. 
Those two elements turn this delicious double cheeseburger into something a little special. There’s certainly some sweetness as you’d expect from a pineapple relish. While eating it I didn’t notice any heat from the blended jalapeño, but by the end I had a nice little zing going. 
The bacon bits were so rich in flavour, spread between the patties which is great as it breaks up the potential for an over beefy centre.
This was also the best the beef has tasted. Either the first time I came here the patties were thin, or the thickness as increased since earlier visits. 
The beef was grainy, really tasty, pink through the middle. The beef in no small part tasted so good because of the diced maple bacon.
I didn’t notice the Dijon mustard, though I imagine it blended into the relish mix. It’s not really something I’d want to stand out. 
I didn’t notice the pickles at all. I’m guessing they blended into the relish component too,  as the complexity in that relish was very good, or I was so entranced by the relish bacon beef mix I didn’t notice 
The buns here are soft like a pillow and have handled all the burgers I’ve had so far.
The amount of flavour derived from minimal ingredients is impressive. I reckon there’s one thing missing for me to give it a 4.6, but I couldn’t name it. Maybe it’s even textural. 
Delicious burger regardless, and I’m loving how Gee is pushing the flavour boundaries

Continuing on with a mini fad of mine which is these donut for bun burgers. They’re not something I really care for, but every one I’ve had has been good, and this is one of the better ones. 
The first that’s been a cinnamon donut and I’d say the sweetest donut so far. In saying that, it still didn’t make the burger particularly sweet. I’ve had burgers with bbq sauce/maple aioli that are far sweeter. 
It’s another burger that focuses on the beef, and those that enjoy double patties, which was again well cooked, really tasty and well seasoned.
The other ingredients blended well together. This is the second time this week I’ve had bacon jam from Milk Bar. It was hidden amongst the avalanche of bacon last time, this time as the only bacon element. It’s not a potent bacon jam like some others around. It does offer a nice bacon flavour to the burger.
The bacon jam, aioli, grilled onions and pickles were well balanced. Mostly savoury. 
While eating the donut with the beef I didn’t notice much sweetness, though it deposited cinnamon sugar over my lips. Made for a nice after taste.
I didn’t notice the hash brown much. Added a slight potato creaminess and does help in breaking up the beef.

This is the second time this week I’ve had bacon jam from Milk Bar. It was hidden amongst the avalanche of bacon last time, this time as the only bacon element. It’s not a potent bacon jam like some others around. It does offer a nice bacon flavour to the burger. The bacon jam, aioli, grilled onions and pickles were well balanced. Mostly savoury. While eating the donut with the beef I didn’t notice much sweetness, though it deposited cinnamon sugar over my lips. Made for a nice after taste. I didn’t notice the hash brown much. The first week of All Stars month has started with the week one special announced and underway.
Trump Tower is an unapologetically in your face double cheeseburger. Absolutely one for those that are looking for a savoury meaty burger covered in rich cheese with plenty of bacon. 
The hash browns help break it up by adding the creaminess that potato gives. Likewise the pickles add some acidic tang.
I really like the onions. Crispy with an interesting flavour. They mixed in well with the red neck mayo. 
I’ve often said BL’s special can focus on everything but the beef, but not this one. It’s a beef lovers delight. 
There’s a lot of different elements that went into this, and every part was prepared perfectly by @mmmikeymm

A message from @ben1hana for a lunchtime burger meet up at Burger Head had me swap my usual burgering schedule around. I hadn’t been to Burger Head yet this year, and this fortnight’s special looked great when announced. Awesome review from @issac_eatsalot upped the anticipation further. 
And what a burger to come back to. It’s KFC on steroids not yet thought up by a science genius in a lab. 
The sticky slightly sweet chilli buffalo basting sauce over the already amazing BH chicken is perfect. Nice and spicy, though their wasn’t heat as such. 
There’s a reasonable amount of burger eaters that would love the option to make this type of burger hot, without adding a generic hot sauce. A hot spicy version of the same sauce used on the burger. Just putting it out there for any kitchens reading this. It’s the most asked question regarding burgers which seem like they’d carry heat.
The burger has it all. Crunchy, spicy complex flavours, creamy slaw, lots of sauce great sauce, ridiculously moist chicken, pickles! 
We were there before anyone else which is always good. Everything was cooked perfectly. 
The burger was ridiculously huge. I’ve doubled chicken here before but this was another size up again.
Take an appetite and you’ll be laughing. 
BH have reverted to fortnightly specials just to confuse us, though it now gives us a better chance to get to them

Back to Milk Bar to try out the latest special. Apologies on the pic. Milk Bar is a bit of nightmare for my phone as the lightings not good, and every burger I’ve had has a white mayo/aioli which comes out over exposed, and being a phone, I can’t set it up to under expose, and doesn’t do exposure bracketing, or HDR in portrait 
Now that’s out of the way, the burgers I’ve had at Milk Bar since returning have all been good quality, and all built around the beef. Not a bad thing when you’re into cheeseburgers.
This burger added a heap of bacon into the mix. Probably the most ‘baconed’ burger I’ve had. It never stood out in either a good or a bad way, mixing into the overall flavour of a bacon double cheesy.
All the components felt restrained actually. It was balanced towards the savoury elements, all stepping into the beef, bacon and cheese flavour.
The maple aioli doesn’t add a lot of sweetness but the flavour is there. I’m wondering if that’s because it mixes in with the peanut butter, which I’d forgot was an ingredient until right near the end where I got a big hit of it, along with the onion.
I didn’t notice the bacon jam tbh. The two elements I thought would impart a sweetness to the burger did so subtly.

I haven’t messed around with a BL special for a while. The mix up in sauces that I received from the special this week (sriracha mayo instead of Alabama BBQ) worked really well with the mash and gravy, and the fried chicken steak.
I swapped the chicken steak out. I lost out by losing the coating, but gained with better texture and the char that patties have over the fried steak.
I gave this a 4.5, though I’d be happy with 4.6, but I think there’s one little thing missing. I don’t know what that thing is, but it was a fraction simpler than when BL put their specials together. That’s not saying it wasn’t packed to the brim with flavour. It was a joy to eat and definitely the best pure hack of a burger I’ve put together (that doesn’t include Joe’s Canuck as that was a fusion of two).
In flavour terms it was similar to the Flame Of Thrones, though the texture was a lot different and those slices of habanero raised the heat to higher level in this burger. Where the Flame felt exotic, this felt like a comfy blanket. It felt double cheeseburger.
Having the maple bacon nestled between the patties is defiantly the way to go at BL. It adds that sweet maple flavour to the meatiest part of the burger and keeps it interesting.
The burger was well balanced. The chicken gravy adds complexity to the beef without pulling it into really deep territory. 
The mashed potato added a nice smooth creamy texture to each bite. It pulls components together and works really well with the sriracha mayo. 
Like I said, the habanero is hot. I made the mistake of rubbing sweat from under my eye. Man did that sting 
You can keep that suicide sauce to yourself thank you very much. 
It did add a kick in heat that so many burger lovers are looking for at the moment. 
Big thanks to the guys that put this together. Awesome

The reduced train schedule was a blessing today. I could stay home and go out for a burger at lunch time. I searched around the purdy new TBC map and decided I’d pay a visit to 4 Ounces original kitchen in Alexandria for the first time. 
I haven’t had a sweet burger for a while so thought I’d try the @donutpapi glazed donut bun burger. Turns out it wasn’t that sweet, which is no bad thing! 
The burger is quite balanced. There’s plenty of cheesy beef flavour which plays a bigger part then the sweeter elements.
Beef was nicely cooked, light pink through the middle, juicy.
The bacon game is good here. The flavour from the maple wasn’t strong and didn’t carry a lot of sweetness which is smart. You want the sweet hit coming from the donut. I’m all for bacon between double patties too. Really crispy, as @challenger_smallgoods bacon should be 
As @taftuls said in his review, the pickles are mild. Juicy for pickles though.
I liked the sauce. It was nicely restrained. It gave the burger a liquid creaminess to help bring the beef, bacon and donut together.
This was a nicely thought out and put together cheesy with all the elements pulling in the same direction, the donut bun giving it an interesting point of difference.

I decided I’d try a c&s cheeseburger after enjoying their more exotic varieties of beef burger specials previously, and seeing their special this week isn’t a burger 
Really nice cheeseburger this. The mixture of the smoke grilled onions, nicely charred beef patties and mildly sweet bbq sauce pulled the flavour profile into deeper realms. 
Beef was beautifully cooked pink throughout. Really nice char flavour mixed in with the tasty beef flavour.
The jalapeños added a nice amount of spice and combined well with the grilled onions and blue cheese mayo. The later adding a bit of creaminess and a deeper less sweet flavour than regular mayo.
The bacon was crispy. Only at c&s can I complain that it had been better. There was a slight maple flavour, and it didn’t reach that amazing translucent candied appearance it usually does here.
If you’re looking for a deeper bbq flavoured cheesy it’s hard to go past this.

This was my second time to Alberts in the past two weeks. I was keen for a chicken day and when I saw the weekly special revealed my mind was made up.
First time I tried the classic cheeseburger and it was a well made good quality cheeseburger.
I’d heard the chicken here was good so I was keen to try it out.
It probably wasn’t the best burger to try it out on as the cheese sauce dominated the flavour profile. I actually took the burger apart half way through to try the components as separately as I could.
The chicken was cooked well. Moist throughout and the coating tasted really good. 
It mixed really well with the pickles and smokey mayo which really did have a nice smokey flavour to it. 
I’m not really sure what was meant by candied bacon. It wasn’t baked until it became almost translucent which is how I usually think of candied bacon. It was well cooked, crispy with good flavour.
The fries were crispy and well cooked. Couldn’t really taste the Cajun spice through the sauces though. 
I like the buns here. They have a nice texture without getting in the way.
If you’re a lover of copious amounts of cheese on your burgers then step right up. Certainly makes for nice burger porn, but I would rather have a little less to left the other flavours have some time in the sun.

When I saw this weeks special from BL it was time to have a little jig. This has about everything I like in a burger. Mash potato and gravy, crispy asf bacon, Alabama bbq sauce, and a piece of intrigue regarding how the fried chicken steak would come out.
It was glorious! Interesting time of the year to release it, in the middle of a heat wave. It gets the sweat going so maybe it’s the right time after all. I hope this comes back in winter 
The most interesting question is how that southern fried coated rump steak was going to turn out? Those memories of frustrating steak sandwiches that would take forever to chew through, the steak remaining long after the other components have been swallowed. 
This steak was tender for the most part, and cooked beautifully. Medium to medium rare . Get in! 
The coating was nice and crispy and added some nice salty spiced flavour to the steak.
The whole burger was perfectly prepared. The ridiculous crispy bacon will get me back to BL every time and it’s one of the reasons they’re in the upper echelon of burger scene. 
The Alabama white sauce has a lot more spice in it than any I’ve had before. Left a nice zing in the mouth after finishing.
I’d add mash potato over fries to a burger any day. It catches all the flavours. The gravy was delicious.
Love this special. 
For the suicide squad. Add to your hearts content. This burger will lap it up.

The whole burger was perfectly prepared. The ridiculous crispy bacon will get me back to BL every time and it’s one of the reasons they’re in the upper echelon of burger scene. The Alabama white sauce has a lot more spice in it than any I’ve had before. Left a nice zing in the mouth after finishing. I’d add mash potato over fries to a burger any day. It catches all the flavours. The gravy was delicious. Love this special. For the suicide squad. Add to your hearts content. Lazy hot Sunday’s calls for an easy to access burger venue, and now I know the patties are getting cooked right at Milk Bar they’re about as easy as it gets for me.
I’d been eyeing this burger off as something I’d like to try for a while. I’ve always liked chips on a burger, and Doritos would add the crunch as well as a cheesy corn flavour.
Beef was pink throughout. The patties here are tasty and have a nice char to them.
There’s a decent amount of bbq sauce which could be problematic, but it’s not too sweet and acts as the bridge between the beef and the other elements. 
The Doritos are obvious for the amount of crunch they give. It’s delightful. They do add a bit of salty cheesy flavour to go along with the crunch.
The jalapeños pop in every so often to give a hit of spicy heat and combined well with the red onion.
The bacon added nice flavour though my focus throughout was on the beef, cheese, bbq sauce and those Doritos.

Another stinking hot summers day called for a chicken burger. DNO have said chicken burger as their weekly special.
It’s a simple but very tasty and satisfying burger. A chicken schnitty with bacon and lettuce with crumbs of Parmesan and a mayo based sauce. Nothing too exciting but it went down a treat. 
The chicken was moist, the crouton coating combined with the cheese was tasty and crisp.
Really nice layer of bacon too. 
The sauce was really nice. Similar to an aioli. 
Lettuce adds the freshness and confirms the lightness of the burger.
There’s plenty of flavour in this burger while still maintaining its summer vibe.
I might not have scored this through the roof but it’s something I’d smash everyday.

The Chur Burger Food Truck celebrated their first birthday last night with a night of beats and burgers at @streetunilivo 
What seems like an eternity ago, these guys were the first to repost a burger pic I’d taken. I’d had a skin full of beer at the horse races, and the pic was as much luck as design, but still, it’s one of those moments I won’t forget.
I was lucky enough to be in the first 100 through the door last night so scored my first free burger. 
Brand new for the relaunch and birthday celebrations, I went with the Cheesy-E. 
With three kinds of cheese flavours, it’s a certainly a cheeseburger. All the elements are covered. Meaty, cheesy, some sweetness from the grilled onions, and the moment of heat you get from chomping into a jalapeño.
The bacon was crispy and in plentiful supply.
Couldn’t fault the way the burger was cooked and put together.
